Film Synopsis
AMIE GEN Z is a ten-minute original musical theatre film which explores the unique social issues people born from 1997-2010 experience in the West, investigating the question, 'what is hope for the first fully digital youth?'.
Delving into the challenges of an increasingly fast-paced society, purposelessness, the battle between privacy and convenience, comparison to an idealized version of self and others online, information overload and loneliness, the film draws on a variety of musical and visual styles to construct five contrasting songs. All the while, a simple metaphor of three teens missing the Millennial bus, arriving and waiting at a bus stop - representing the transit of 'teenhood' - and finally boarding their own bus at the conclusion of the film ties these sub-narratives together as Gen Z begins to form their own identity.
